Hendrik Relve’s journeys into the worlds of indigenous peoples
An evening of literature and wandering in the Museum of the Literature Centre

On March 13, 2025 at 18.00, nature journalist and traveller Hendrik Relve will be speaking about the indigenous peoples of the world, their traditions, and their relationships with nature as part of the Literature Center’s evening of literature and wandering. Relve has compiled his great adventures with indigenous peoples in the book „Retked põlisrahvaste omalimdesse“ („Journeys to the Homelands of Indigenous Peoples“) which was published at the end of last year. The author comments the content of the book as follows:
„I have traveled the world for over half a century and have always been fascinated by unspoiled nature and indigenous peoples. Why? Unspoiled nature because valuing it has been at the center of my activities and interests my whole life. Indigenous peoples because many of them have managed to live in the same area for a long time without making a hopeless mess of their living environment. How have they managed it?“
The evening is part of the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre’s museum series, which talks about literature and travelling. Admission with the museum ticket: 5 euros full ticket, 3 euros discount ticket (students, university students and seniors); or with Estonian Musem Card. Hendrik Relve’s book „Retked põlisrahvaste omalimdesse“ („Journeys to the Homelands of Indigenous Peoples“) can be purchased at the event.
