On May 15, 2025 at 18.00, as part of the series of literature and wandering evenings, Aare Pilv, a junior researcher at the Literature Centre, will talk about the nature, culture and society of Georgia. In addition to participating in the conference, he followed in the footsteps of the Georgian avant-garde artists Titsian Tabidze and Paolo Iashvili, as well as Mayakovsky’s childhood places, saw the mountains around Tbilisi and Kutaisi, and experienced a bit of the local social climate. Aare Pilv’s trip to Georgia took place in September 2024, where the parliamentary elections that led to the political crisis had not yet taken place. Georgia is a country where Estonia is well known; although exotic to us in terms of culture and nature, there are also some familiar things there, which probably stem from the history under the rule of the same empire.

The evening is part of the Under and Tuglas Literature Center’s museum series, which talks about travelling and literature. Admission with a museum ticket: 5 euros full ticket, 3 euros discount ticket (students, university students and seniors); or with The Estonian Musem Card.
